AR HB1839

Requires the Department of Workforce Services, Arkansas Workers' Compensation Commission, and Department of Labor to enter into an interagency agreement to address misclassification of employees as independent contractors and enforce related state laws.

Authorizes sharing of information between the three agencies to the extent permitted by state and federal law, with established procedures and protocols for such sharing.

Allows the Department of Workforce Services to request information from the Workers' Compensation Commission when an unemployment benefits applicant's purported employer has not paid unemployment contributions and the applicant's employer status cannot be determined.

Designates information provided by the Workers' Compensation Commission as confidential and prohibits disclosure except as required by the act.

Requires each agency to bear its own costs and mandates semi-annual reports to the Legislative Council on implementation of the interagency agreement.
