Sergeant Daniel Oller, a Hope Police Department patrol sergeant since June 28, 2005, donated one of his kidneys to fellow officer Sergeant David Johnson on June 15, 2010.

Sergeant Johnson, a ten-year veteran, suffered renal failure from diabetes and faced dialysis three times per week for four and a half hours daily without a kidney transplant, while caring for his four-year-old granddaughter.

Oller was determined to be a compatible match after testing with colleagues and underwent the Baptist Health Kidney Transplant Program's testing and evaluations in Little Rock.

During surgery, complications arose when more blood vessels than expected were discovered in Oller's kidney, requiring major incision rather than laser surgery, resulting in a collapsed lung and other serious complications that he recovered from within a week.

The House of Representatives recognizes Sergeant Oller for his selfless act of organ donation and directs the Chief Clerk to forward an official copy of the resolution to him.
