Parents of multiple birth siblings (twins, triplets, etc.) may request in writing within 14 days of enrollment that siblings be placed in the same classroom or separate classrooms.

Schools must honor the parent's requested classroom placement unless specified exceptions apply.

Schools may override a parent's request after 30 instructional days if teacher consultation determines the placement is detrimental to educational achievement, disruptive to classroom learning, or disruptive to school discipline.

Schools are not required to place siblings in separate classrooms if doing so would require adding an additional class to the grade level.

School districts must adopt written policies for multiple birth sibling classroom placements consistent with this section, and parents may appeal placement decisions through district policy procedures.
