Amends Arkansas Code § 16-89-111 to change the order of evidence presentation, requiring the state to "first" offer evidence in support of an indictment before the defendant presents a defense.

Modifies the requirements for defendant confessions by creating two alternative conditions: the confession must be accompanied with other proof that the offense was committed, OR supported by substantial independent evidence establishing the confession's trustworthiness.

Maintains existing requirements that felony convictions cannot be based solely on accomplice testimony without corroboration connecting the defendant to the commission of the offense.

Specifies that corroboration is insufficient if it merely shows the offense was committed and its circumstances, requiring evidence that directly links the defendant to the offense.

Preserves the exception allowing misdemeanor convictions based on accomplice testimony alone without corroboration.
