School districts must review and update their parental involvement plans annually by October 1, file a copy with the Department of Education, and place a copy on their website.

The Department of Education shall review plans for compliance and indicate compliance status on school performance reports under § 6-15-1402.

The department shall monitor school districts on a rotating schedule to evaluate plan implementation effectiveness and identify areas needing revision, prioritizing districts in school improvement for 2+ consecutive years or in academic distress.

The department must provide written recommendations to school districts by January 1 of each year regarding noncompliance or areas for improvement, allowing districts an opportunity to implement the recommendations.

Professional development requirements increase to 2 or more hours for teachers and 3 or more hours for administrators to enhance understanding of effective parental involvement strategies and administrative leadership in supporting parental participation.
