Senate commends Hugh McClain of Buford, Arkansas on his induction into the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame on March 11, 2011, recognizing his contributions to Arkansas agriculture.

McClain became Arkansas' largest independent turkey producer after returning to Baxter County in 1969 with $4,400 and accumulated 40 years of business distinction as a cattleman, landowner, and banker.

At peak operations, McClain coordinated with 42 turkey growers across Baxter, Marion, and Boone counties and continues to grow approximately 500,000 turkeys annually in 15 houses on his farm.

McClain was nominated by the Arkansas Farm Bureau for enhancing north-central Arkansas' property tax base, creating jobs, and facilitating agricultural product distribution in the region.

Secretary of the Senate shall provide an appropriate copy of the resolution to Mr. McClain upon adoption.
