SB85 Summary

• Establishes maximum of 148 regular employees for the Workers' Compensation Commission for fiscal year 2012-2013, including 1 Chairman at $126,730, 2 Commissioners at $124,686 each, and 145 other staff positions at various pay grades.

• Authorizes 2 part-time or temporary "Extra Help" employees at rates not to exceed those provided in the Uniform Classification and Compensation Act.

• Appropriates $28,086,822 from the Workers' Compensation Fund for administration, including $7,745,557 for regular salaries, $2,249,396 for personal services matching, and $15,000,000 for investments.

• Appropriates $163,750,000 from the Death and Permanent Total Disability Trust Fund for refunds, death/disability claims, and investments; and $9,250,000 from the Second Injury Trust Fund for refunds and second injury claims.

• Appropriates $140,000 from a state cash fund for scholarships and educational conference expenses and becomes effective July 1, 2012 under an emergency clause.
