AR HB1126

Increases the Board of Trustees of the Arkansas State Highway Employees' Retirement System from six (6) to seven (7) members by adding the Director of State Highways and Transportation as a required board member.

Renumbers the existing board positions (Treasurer of State, Director of Finance and Administration, Chief Engineer, retiree member, and two qualified system members) to accommodate the new Director position.

Adds a new duty to the executive secretary position to cast the deciding vote in case of a tie vote among board members.

Declares an emergency clause stating the revision is necessary to bring the retirement system law into conformance with sound public pension policy and to maintain a professional Board of Trustees.

Establishes an effective date of July 1, 2013.
