HB1894 Summary

• Requires licensed child care facilities to file floor plans with local emergency management offices by January 1, 2014, within 30 days of receiving a license and within 30 days of any floor plan modifications.

• Floor plans must include schematic drawings of facilities, child locations, fire department-approved escape routes, ages and licensed capacity of children, and at least 2 emergency contacts.

• Allows school districts to voluntarily file floor plans containing facility schematics, child locations, escape routes, average daily attendance, and emergency contacts with emergency management coordinators.

• Requires emergency management coordinators to make submitted floor plans available at 911 public safety communications centers and local emergency management offices.

• Authorizes the Department of Human Services and Department of Education to adopt rules for implementing these requirements.
