HB2089 Summary

• Replaces the word "designated" with "appointed" for legislative members of the Compact for Education Commissioners of Arkansas selected by the Speaker of the House and President Pro Tempore of the Senate.

• Restructures the Southern Growth Policies Board membership to have one (1) member appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and one (1) member appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, rather than two (2) members appointed by presiding officers of each house.

• Changes appointment language for the Southern States Energy Board from "name" to "appoint" for both the Speaker of the House and President Pro Tempore of the Senate selecting board members.

• Amends the Multistate Tax Compact Advisory Committee membership to clarify that "persons" rather than "members" of the Senate and House of Representatives may be appointed by the President Pro Tempore and Speaker respectively, with two (2) year terms.

• Modifies expense reimbursement language for legislative board members to clarify payments come from funds available to "the house of the member of the General Assembly appointing the respective member of the board."
