HB2095 Summary

• All Arkansas school districts must report to the Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation by July 1, 2014, detailing current bus route data including number of buses, students transported, route miles, driver salaries, and longest one-way travel times for the 2013-2014 school year.

• School districts must calculate the costs required to implement maximum student transportation times of 90 minutes (2014-2015), 80 minutes (2015-2016), 70 minutes (2016-2017), 60 minutes (2017-2018), and 50 minutes (2018-2019).

• The Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation shall provide collected data to the House Committee on Education and Senate Committee on Education through the Bureau of Legislative Research.

• The Bureau of Legislative Research, in cooperation with the division, shall prepare a report on the collected data for both education committees' consideration in the 2014 adequacy study.

• School districts are encouraged to provide additional comments regarding the feasibility of implementing the proposed maximum route times.
