Amends Arkansas Code § 12-9-106(a) to change law enforcement officer appointments from "temporary or probationary" to only "temporary" basis during the initial one (1) year period before completing preparatory police training.

Allows the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training to approve an extension of temporary employment for no more than eight (8) months if extraordinary circumstances exist and are approved by the commission's executive body.

Amends Arkansas Code § 14-51-301(b)(7)(A) to establish probation periods of up to twelve (12) months for fire department appointees and at least one (1) year but no longer than two (2) years for law enforcement appointees before appointment completion.

Maintains a six (6) month probation period before any promotion in law enforcement or fire departments is complete.
