AR HB2292

Reduces the Board of Corrections citizen members from five (5) to four (4), with two appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and two by the Speaker of the House, each selected from their respective congressional districts.

Adds a new at-large member position appointed by the Governor to the seven (7) voting member board composition.

Changes member terms from seven (7) years to staggered terms of five (5) years, with a maximum service limit of thirteen (13) years total.

Modifies vacancy procedures so the original appointing officer fills the position with a successor serving the remainder of the unexpired term.

Establishes transition procedures requiring Governor and legislative leaders to appoint board members within thirty (30) days, with initial terms determined by random draw ranging from one (1) to five (5) years.
