Corporal Terry Wayne Johnson of the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office died on March 2, 2013, at 12:42 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith after a single-vehicle patrol accident on Highway 96 in Lavaca, Arkansas.

Johnson began his law enforcement career in July 1996 as a Detention Deputy and was promoted to Shift Sergeant before transferring to the Patrol Division in 1999, where he was promoted to Patrol Corporal in January 2012.

Johnson was a graduate of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden and received specialized training in interpersonal communications, storm spotting, crime prevention, Incident Command Systems through FEMA, active shooter response, and served as a certified law enforcement instructor.

Johnson was a member of the Search and Rescue/Operation Lifesaver team and was respected by the citizens and department for his work ethic, cooperative spirit, and dedication to the motto of "Honor and Integrity since 1851."

The House of Representatives commends Corporal Johnson's service to Arkansas and his local community, and directs that an appropriate copy of the resolution be provided to his family.
