AR SB1086

Extends the statute of limitations for wrongful death lawsuits from 3 years to the timeframe permitted for murder charges when the defendant was convicted of capital murder, first-degree murder, or second-degree murder.

Modifies the nonsuit provision to require actions be brought within 1 year from the date a nonsuit is entered, regardless of the original death date.

Requires convicted criminals who profit from recounting their crimes through books, films, interviews, or entertainment to pay proceeds to a circuit court escrow account.

Directs escrow funds to be held for victims or their legal representatives of crimes committed by the defendant.

Allows defendants to access escrow funds only upon court order for legal representation costs, including expert witnesses and evidence testing, if they cannot otherwise afford adequate counsel.
