SB179 Summary

• Amends Arkansas Code § 6-1-101 to consolidate audit provisions for publicly funded educational institutions, allowing the Division of Legislative Audit or other licensed accountants to perform audits with fee authority in cases of undue demand.

• Repeals multiple obsolete sections including the Arkansas Leadership Institute for Teachers of the Delta (§ 6-1-201 through 6-1-202), county board of education implementation provisions (§ 6-12-114 through 6-12-116), and school district coordinator positions (§ 6-12-315 through 6-12-316) that no longer exist or whose purposes have been fulfilled.

• Consolidates school district board of directors size provisions into § 6-13-634, allowing boards of 5, 7, or 9 members with requirements for odd-numbered boards and petition procedures for size changes.

• Repeals expired or unfunded programs including the Education Standards Commission (§ 6-15-1201), Arkansas Teachers' Salaries Study Commission (§ 6-17-806), Family Resource Centers (§ 6-18-1401 through 6-18-1409), Task Force on Medically Fragile Students (§ 6-41-501 through 6-41-504), and Arkansas Safe Campus Task Force (§ 6-60-103).

• Makes technical corrections to school uniform policy provisions and college savings bond regulations by removing duplicative language and updating statutory references.
