Establishes the office of sheriff as a nonpartisan office in Arkansas Code Title 14, Chapter 15, Subchapter 1

Candidates for sheriff may qualify by paying a $500 filing fee, filing a petition signed by at least 1% of county qualified electors (not to exceed 2,000 signatures), or filing as write-in candidates

Write-in candidates must provide written notice to county election commissioners and county clerk at least 90 days before the general election and file a political practices pledge

If no sheriff candidate receives a majority of votes in the general election, the two candidates receiving the highest vote totals advance to a runoff election under § 7-5-106

Candidate name restrictions limit sheriffs to three given names maximum, with one name potentially being a nickname; candidates may only use the "sheriff" title prefix if currently serving as sheriff
