Senate Bill 614 Summary

• Appropriates $1,000,000 to the University of Arkansas at Monticello from the General Improvement Fund for broadband expansion projects at the Crossett campus.

• Eligible uses include design, deployment, construction, infrastructure renovation, maintenance, equipment, security enhancements, and technology upgrades for broadband infrastructure.

• Institutions may supplement state funds with grants, donations, and federal funds, but cannot use existing Maintenance and General Operations appropriations for these projects.

• All disbursements must comply with state purchasing laws, accounting procedures, revenue stabilization laws, and Department of Finance and Administration regulations.

• Act takes effect July 1, 2013 under emergency clause provisions.
