Allows political subdivisions to appoint up to 12 auxiliary law enforcement officers regardless of agency size, or the larger of: 2 auxiliary officers per full-time certified law enforcement officer, or 1 auxiliary officer per 1,000 persons in the political subdivision (increased from 1 officer per full-time certified officer).

Permits political subdivisions with special or unusual problems to request additional auxiliary law enforcement officers from the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training, which may grant the request if it serves the public interest.

Exempts honorary police officers without law enforcement authority from numerical restrictions.

Exempts auxiliary law enforcement officers serving as school resource officers or search and rescue officers from the numerical limitations imposed by this section.
