Senate applauds the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas and University of Arkansas System leadership for developing strategies to expand quality, affordable, online courses and degree programs.

Recognizes that thousands of Arkansans with job and family obligations are unable to access or complete educational programs at existing on-campus facilities.

Acknowledges that modern technology advancements enable delivery of high-quality, affordable postsecondary courses and degree programs through computers and mobile devices.

Notes that Arkansas ranks near the bottom of the United States in percentage of adults with college degrees and that Governor Beebe has directed policymakers to dramatically increase Arkansans with postsecondary degrees by 2025.

Supports use of innovative technologies to help Arkansas students graduate on time and provide greater educational access to unserved and underserved Arkansans seeking flexible, convenient educational options.
