AR HB1358

Amends Arkansas Code § 6-13-608(c)(2) to clarify that a school board position becomes vacant if an elected person fails to receive the director's oath of office within the time provided under § 6-13-617(a)(1).

Requires directors elected or appointed for initial or nonconsecutive terms to take an oath of office within 10 days of receiving notice of election or appointment from the county clerk.

Specifies that the oath must be administered before an individual authorized under § 21-2-105 and that directors must submit a certification of the oath to the county clerk within the required timeframe to be commissioned.

Requires the county clerk to notify the school district superintendent by phone and send a copy of the oath certification to the school district central office within 5 days of receipt.

Amends § 6-14-115(a) to require county clerks to deliver elected directors a certificate of election, notice of oath requirements, the 10-day deadline, a list of qualified oath administrators, a blank oath form, and notice that duties cannot be assumed until oath certification is received.
