AR HB1606

Allows the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training to award a service pistol to a retiring or deceased certified law enforcement officer employed by the commission, or to the officer's spouse if legally eligible to possess a firearm.

Permits a retiring certified law enforcement officer to retain the pistol they carried at the time of retirement.

Allows the spouse of a deceased certified law enforcement officer to receive or retain the officer's service pistol if the spouse is eligible under applicable state and federal firearms laws.

Applies retroactively to certified law enforcement officers who retired or died on or after January 1, 2014.

Effective upon approval on March 12, 2015.
