Department of Correction and Department of Community Correction must prepare invoices during the first week of each month listing state inmates from counties on the jail backup list during the previous month.

Invoices must reflect the number of days each state inmate was physically housed in the county jail in awaiting-bed-space status, and must be verified and forwarded to the county sheriff for certification.

Upon written request from a county judge, treasurer, or sheriff, the departments must provide a year-to-date written report summarizing reimbursement invoices, amounts paid, and balances owed.

Payment from the fund must be made within 5 business days of receipt of signed and certified invoices returned by each county, subject to available funding.

County sheriffs must maintain documentation for 3 calendar years confirming the number of days each state inmate was physically housed in the jail, subject to review by the division; invoices may be mailed or sent electronically.
