Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training shall develop a voluntary training course of 120 to 160 hours for certifying new constables after consulting with the Arkansas Constables Association.

Constables may choose to become certified law enforcement officers by completing the training course, meeting minimum law enforcement certification standards, and completing any additional training required by the commission.

Commission may decertify a constable who fails to complete or maintain certification requirements or fails to comply with constable uniform and training requirements under Arkansas Code § 14-14-1314.

Decertified constables cannot seek recertification until one year has passed and must again complete all requirements under the certification process.

Constables are not required to become certified law enforcement officers; certification remains voluntary and optional.
