Annual school elections may be held either on the third Tuesday in September or the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November of each year.

School election issues may be printed on the same ballot as the general election ballot when the annual school election is held in November of an even-numbered year.

School districts must reimburse counties for election costs, with reimbursement for November even-numbered year elections capped at the amount reimbursed for the last contested school election in an odd-numbered year.

School districts holding elections in November at the same time as general elections must follow early voting rules applicable to general elections, providing 15 days of early voting availability.

Emergency clause declares the measure necessary to reduce unnecessary election expenses and protect voting rights by allowing school election ballots to be combined with general election ballots, effective upon gubernatorial approval.
