Licensed educators, including long-term substitute teachers, may serve as test proctors for state-mandated assessments if they have received required training from the state board, commissioner, or Department of Education.

Retired educators and individuals employed under a waiver from licensure as a teacher of record or administrator may also serve as test proctors under the same training requirements.

Any employee, including substitute teachers, may serve as a test proctor if accompanied by a test administrator as described in the section.

Relatives or guardians of a student are prohibited from serving as a test administrator or proctor in the same testing room as that student during assessments.

A long-term substitute teacher is defined as an individual who holds a valid teaching license but does not have a full-time contract with a school district.
