AR HB1471

Amends Arkansas Code § 16-93-103 to expand firearm carrying authority for parole and probation officers appointed by courts or employed by the Department of Community Correction who are certified law enforcement officers.

Authorizes parole and probation officers to carry firearms during all hours while actively engaged in their official duties, subject to selection and training requirements under §§ 12-9-104, 12-9-106, and 12-9-107.

Permits parole and probation officers to carry nonstate-issued firearms during all hours when not actively pursuing their official duties.

Allows parole and probation officers employed by the Department of Community Correction to carry a nonstate-issued firearm as a secondary weapon while actively working and to carry a state-issued firearm during off-duty hours, except when working at other employment outside the department.

Extends firearm carrying authority to parole and probation officers employed by entities other than the Department of Community Correction.
