AR HB1577

Extends the statute of limitations for arson prosecutions from the standard period to 10 years after the offense is committed.

Adds arson of commercial timber or agricultural property as a distinct offense category when the destroyed or commercially nonviable timber or other agricultural product exceeds $5,000 in value.

Classifies arson as a Class B felony if it involves commercial timber or agricultural property damage, in addition to the existing damage-based classification scheme.

Maintains existing arson classifications based on property damage amounts: Class A misdemeanor ($0-$499), Class D felony ($500-$2,499), Class C felony ($2,500-$4,999), Class B felony ($5,000-$14,999), Class A felony ($15,000-$99,999), and Class Y felony ($100,000 or more).
