School district board members may be removed through recall election by majority vote of qualified electors for that office.

A recall petition requires signatures from at least 35% of qualified electors for the office, with the circuit clerk verifying signatures within 10 days.

The petitioner may circulate for an additional 10 days if the petition initially meets the 35% threshold but fails verification.

Recall elections are held at the next annual school election, or the following year's election if the next election is less than 60 days after petition certification.

A removed member's vacancy is filled by majority vote of remaining board members, with a general election held if more than one year remains in the term; removed members are barred from candidacy to fill the vacancy.
