AR HB1585

Adds Arkansas Code 18-16-412 to establish procedures for disposing of personal information found in leased self-service storage spaces.

Defines "personal information" as information relating to clients, customers, or business associates of the storage unit occupant, including Social Security numbers, credit/debit card information, bank account numbers, medical information, and passport information.

Permits storage operators to inspect leased units without liability after an occupant is in default for more than 45 days if the operator has reasonable belief the unit contains personal information.

Requires storage operators to destroy personal information found during inspection and prohibits selling such information under Arkansas Code § 18-16-406.

Provides liability protection for operators who comply with inspection and destruction requirements.
