Professional licensing boards must adopt rules requiring practitioners to check the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program at appropriate intervals when prescribing Schedule II controlled substances.

Licensing boards cannot adopt rules less restrictive than those of the Arkansas State Medical Board regarding Schedule II substance checks.

Licensing boards may optionally adopt rules requiring practitioners to check the Program when prescribing Schedule III drugs or benzodiazepines, and may impose quantity limits on controlled substance prescriptions.

Licensing boards may require practitioners to access the Program more frequently than mandated as part of professional practice reviews.

Practitioners who purposely fail to access the Program as required by their licensing board may be subject to disciplinary action.
