AR HB1866

Amends Arkansas Code § 25-19-105(b) to allow active law enforcement officers to request exemption of personal contact information, real property records, personal property records, and tax records from county online searchable databases upon submission of appropriate documentation signed by their supervisor and department head.

Requires that searches or inquiries for omitted records be flagged to indicate that personal contact information or records have been removed from public access.

Permits omitted records to remain private for 2 years, with officers able to submit documentation to extend the privacy protection upon expiration of the initial 2-year period.

Applies only to records made available by counties in online searchable format, not physical records or other access methods.

Creates a focus group appointed by the Speaker of the House to develop a standardized form by May 1, 2018, consisting of one county clerk, county assessor, county tax recorder, banking representative, title company representative, and active law enforcement officer; the focus group expires May 1, 2018.

Establishes an effective date of May 1, 2018 for the main provisions of the act.
