• Votes for unopposed candidates (except mayor, governor, and circuit clerk) are not counted or tabulated; only the word "UNOPPOSED" is recorded on tally sheets.

• Primary and special elections with only one candidate may be conducted by absentee ballot and early voting only, or the candidate may be declared and certified elected without holding an election.
