AR HB1922

Adds Arkansas Code 5-71-218 to make it unlawful to possess an open alcoholic beverage container in a passenger area of a motor vehicle when the vehicle is in operation or located on a public highway.

Exempts open containers located in trunks, cargo areas, locked compartments (glove box, center console), or permanently sealed containers that cannot be opened without breaking the seal.

Allows passengers (but not drivers) to possess open alcoholic beverages in recreational vehicles, motor homes, house trailers, or vehicles designed for transporting persons for compensation, provided the container is in living quarters or passenger-only areas and not readily accessible to the driver.

Establishes violation of this section as a Class C misdemeanor.
