AR HB2008

Amends Arkansas Code § 21-1-402(a) to prohibit constitutional officers from entering employment with state agencies, public school districts, vocational education schools, or education service cooperatives after being elected, unless they resign before taking such employment.

Allows constitutional officers previously employed by state agencies or educational institutions to transfer, change positions, or enter part-time/temporary employment after retirement with prior approval from the Joint Budget Committee, Legislative Council, and Governor.

Permits constitutional officers who are credentialed or certified as tutors, teachers, professors, or adjunct professors to continue employment in those capacities at public schools, educational service cooperatives, vocational schools, or state-supported colleges or universities.

Requires that constitutional officers who were employed by state agencies prior to election may continue that employment without reclassification (except for general reclassifications) and may only receive cost-of-living increases without prior approval of the Joint Budget Committee, Legislative Council, and Governor.
