AR HB2020

Allows persons with a concealed handgun license under § 5-73-301 et seq. to carry or possess a concealed handgun in their motor vehicle or in a locked and unattended motor vehicle in publicly owned and maintained parking lots.

Defines "parking lot" to include designated parking areas or structures and school drop-off zones, but excludes parking lots controlled by the Department of Correction or Department of Community Correction.

Permits law enforcement officers, officers of the court, and bailiffs acting in the line of duty to possess handguns in courtrooms and courthouses of the state.

Reduces the penalty for violating firearm possession restrictions in public buildings and facilities from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class C misdemeanor upon conviction.
