Schools of cosmetology shall administer the practical licensing examination approved by the Department of Health for eligible candidates, replacing the prior system where the Department or private testing entities administered all licensing examinations.

Members of the Cosmetology Technical Advisory Committee are prohibited from participating in the preparation, administration, or grading of licensing examinations for applicants.

Licensed instructors in good standing are not required to renew their specialty license, and instructors must complete 600 hours of teacher training over at least four months before passing written and practical examinations.

Maximum instruction hours for special programs increased from eight (8) hours per day to ten (10) hours per day, while maintaining the six-day per week limit.

Application requirements for cosmetology licensing were simplified by removing redundant language while maintaining the requirement that applications be verified by oath and accompanied by required fees.
