Department of Arkansas State Police shall obtain medical and hospital insurance or establish a self-insurance fund to cover eligible uniformed employees.

Department shall pay all or a portion of premiums or self-insurance fund payments from appropriated funds for personal service matching or specifically designated purposes.

Department may provide hospitalization and medical coverage for spouses and dependents of eligible employees under group health insurance or self-insurance program.

Retirees receiving benefits under State Police Retirement System after July 1, 1985, are eligible to participate in the group health self-insurance program on same terms as other state employee retirees under §§ 21-5-410 through 21-5-411.

Defines "eligible employee" as full-time department employees qualified to enroll in the Arkansas State Police Health Benefit Plan and "eligible retiree" as department retirees meeting formal retirement and plan enrollment requirements.
