AR HB1290

Amends Arkansas Code § 17-92-101 to authorize pharmacists to initiate therapy and administer or dispense oral contraceptives pursuant to a statewide protocol, in addition to existing authority for Naloxone.

Requires pharmacists administering oral contraceptives to complete an approved training program through the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy.

Mandates pharmacists screen patients to determine if they have seen a primary care or women's healthcare practitioner within the previous 6 months, and provide referrals if not.

Limits pharmacists to dispensing no more than a 6-month supply of oral contraceptives until the patient has visited a primary care or women's healthcare practitioner.

Restricts pharmacist provision of oral contraceptives to individuals 18 years of age or older.
