Wrecker and tow vehicles permitted under § 27-50-1203 may be equipped with amber flashing or rotating lights, white and red flashing or rotating lights, or both types of lights

Authorized emergency and warning lights shall be displayed only during hazardous use to alert other motorists and the public to exercise caution

Amber flashing or rotating lights do not classify a wrecker or tow vehicle as an emergency vehicle

Red flashing or rotating lights may only operate when the wrecker or tow vehicle is stopped on or within 10 feet of a public way and actively engaged in recovery, loading, or hooking up an abandoned, unattended, disabled, or wrecked vehicle

Wrecker or tow vehicles are prohibited from operating forward-facing red flashing or rotating lights while underway, unless expressly authorized or required by law
