The Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training, in conjunction with the Arkansas Drug Director and Criminal Justice Institute, shall develop a curriculum for law enforcement training on identifying controlled substance overdose signs and safe assistance methods.

The overdose identification curriculum must be delivered to all students attending basic law enforcement training courses certified by the commission.

Training must include signs and symptoms of controlled substance overdoses including opioids, first-responder treatment and triage procedures, first-responder safety considerations, and an overview of naloxone's role in opioid overdose situations.

All law enforcement agencies are encouraged to develop naloxone programs with assistance from the Arkansas Drug Director's office or Criminal Justice Institute, or both.
