AR HB1437

Establishes mandatory reporting requirements for 40 categories of professionals (including teachers, school counselors, healthcare workers, social workers, and clergy) to notify law enforcement if they have good faith belief of a serious and imminent threat of violence in or targeted at a school communicated during their professional duties.

Requires mandated reporters to make every attempt to immediately notify law enforcement and notify within 24 hours of learning of the threat.

Creates "failure to notify by mandated reporter in the first degree" as a Class A misdemeanor for knowingly failing to notify law enforcement of a school violence threat.

Creates "failure to notify by mandated reporter in the second degree" as a Class C misdemeanor for recklessly failing to notify law enforcement of a school violence threat.

Makes knowingly making a false report to law enforcement a Class A misdemeanor for the first offense and a Class D felony for subsequent offenses; provides civil and criminal immunity to those who report threats in good faith.
