HB 1662 Summary

• Amends Arkansas Code § 16-17-108 to increase maximum and/or minimum salary ranges for district court judges, clerks, and deputy clerks across 79 separate district court positions throughout Arkansas

• Increases salary ranges for multiple counties including Desha County (deputy clerk maximum from $23,000 to $28,000), Franklin County positions (maximums from $30,000 to $40,000 and $40,000 to $50,000), Garland County clerk (maximum from $57,000 to $68,400), and Washington County positions

• Updates salary ranges for Greene County, Hempstead County, Newton County, Searcy County, Sharp County, and Washington County district court positions with adjusted minimum and maximum amounts

• Specifies that local salary supplements paid under § 16-17-115(c) shall not be counted when calculating the salaries established in this section

• Became effective April 8, 2019
