HB1666 Summary

• County political party chairs or secretaries are prohibited from serving as members of the county board of election commissioners.

• County boards of election commissioners must allocate sufficient secure ballot boxes and voting system components for each polling site based on voter turnout from the immediately preceding comparable election.

• Each polling site must have a minimum of two election clerks, one election judge, and one election sheriff, with the election judge serving as poll supervisor and all officials required to complete training.

• The minority party election commissioner may designate a number of election officials equal to one less than the majority at each polling site, with a minimum of two officials per site.

• County election commissioners are classified as county officials (effective July 30, 1999) and are immune from suit pursuant to § 21-9-301.
