AR HB1715

Amends Arkansas Code § 6-20-2305(b)(2)(A)(ii) to allow public school districts to become eligible for alternative learning environment funding immediately upon enrollment of a student in an alternative learning environment program.

Expands the definition of "alternative learning environment" to include regional alternative learning environment high schools designed to serve public school districts within multiple counties.

Creates new section 6-48-105 establishing regional alternative learning environment high schools to serve adjudicated juveniles who cannot succeed in traditional public school settings or district-level alternative learning environments.

Requires public school districts to set aside a minimum of 15% of alternative learning environment funding to support students who are court-ordered to attend or whose parents request attendance at regional alternative learning environment high schools.

Allows districts to use remaining alternative learning environment funds for other permissible purposes if no students from the district are attending a regional alternative environment high school by the end of the third quarter of the school year.
