Effective beginning the 2019-2020 school year, each public school district shall provide a minimum of 200 minutes per week for each classroom teacher for conferences, instructional planning, collaboration, and preparation.

Of the required 200 minutes per week, 80 minutes must be specifically designated for individual planning time.

School districts are prohibited from lengthening the school day to provide planning time unless they compensate teachers at an hourly per diem rate for the additional time.

Teachers not receiving individual planning time as required shall be compensated at their hourly rate of pay for the planning time lost.

"Instructional purposes" is defined to include activities initiated by teachers related to teaching duties such as contacting parents, assessing student performance, documenting performance, organizing classrooms, preparing instructional materials, and supervising students.
