Federal Bureau of Investigation suspended all formal contacts with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) due to alleged relationship between CAIR and Hamas, a designated foreign terrorist organization.

CAIR was identified as an associate of the Muslim Brotherhood and named an unindicted co-conspirator in United States v. Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, the largest successful terrorism-financing prosecution in U.S. history.

Multiple CAIR officials and affiliated individuals were convicted on terrorism-related charges, including sentences ranging from 1 year to 65 years in prison for offenses including material support to terrorist organizations, money laundering, and financing designated terrorist groups.

United Arab Emirates officially designated CAIR as a terrorist organization in 2014.

House of Representatives encourages law enforcement agencies to suspend contact and outreach with the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
