AR SB144

Amends Arkansas Code § 24-6-411(c)(1) to modify the marriage duration requirement for surviving spouses to receive death benefits under the State Police Retirement System Tier Two Benefit Plan from one year to six months immediately preceding the member's death.

Surviving spouses meeting the six-month marriage requirement receive an annuity calculated as if the deceased member had retired on the date of death, elected the Option B75 survivor annuity, and designated the spouse as joint beneficiary.

The act applies retroactively to January 1, 2017.
