Senate Resolution 8 recognizes and supports the Arkansas Poor People's Campaign, officially launched on December 4, 2017, and organized by Rev. Dr. William Barber II and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis as part of a national movement to reignite the 1968 Poor People's Campaign.

The resolution affirms that systems of poverty and racism create inequities and injustices that are manufactured and can be undone, and declares a moral imperative to ensure equitable treatment of all persons living in Arkansas.

The resolution endorses the campaign's call for a moral, constitutional, anti-poverty, anti-racist, pro-labor coalition that engages in moral direct action, voter mobilization, and power building to address systemic injustices.

The resolution affirms the need to provide adequate resources and attention to ensure air, land, water, and living animals are protected so all can enjoy a healthy place to live, breathe, grow, and thrive.

Upon adoption, the Secretary of the Senate shall transmit a copy of the resolution to the Arkansas Poor People's Campaign.
