School districts may request to reduce polling places or conduct elections entirely by absentee ballot and early voting when only one candidate runs unopposed and no ballot issues are contested, except for unchanged local tax rates

County boards of election commissioners must provide public notice at least 8 days (instead of 20 days) before early voting begins for preferential primaries, general primaries, and general elections

Candidate ballot order drawing for school elections must occur at least 72 days before elections held on first Tuesday after first Monday in November or third Tuesday in May, or 89 days before elections held on first Tuesday after first Monday in March

Public notices must be posted at least 8 days (instead of 15 days) before election day with lists of appointed election officials, and objections to election officials must be filed within 7 calendar days (instead of 10 days) after posting

Unopposed candidates for mayor and circuit clerk are treated like governor and city clerk positions by having votes counted and tabulated as in contested races rather than being automatically declared elected
